#QUIZisMyValentine
Like every other couple,
We move about together,
however bereft we are.
She goes with me to balls,
and evenings,
only to join me back at night
or sometimes by the day.
She is of the sort, who
gets bored with your
abundant attention,
the lack of which draws
her to you,
and many other men.
Like all times,
I brought her along with me
tonight.
She surprisingly stood
longer than usual by my side.
Such moments, though rare,
prompt a smile on me,
as I boast about her company.
Gloat, rather.
Sometime ago she managed
to slip away from my hold,
noting which,
I set my eyes on a frenzied survey.
When my wandering gaze
locked on her, she was
this time, standing by,
yet another man.
At one point I started to think that all my efforts towards quizzing activities were in vain, due to lack of results. Near misses were painful.
After that season, I hit a purple patch with my partner Saransh Mohapatra and went on a streak so hot, that other quizzers asked for us to be banned from Bhubaneswar quizzes.
I realized an important lesson through this. Quizzing is not just an activity, but a way of life.
Everyone has gone through that situation where, they would like themselves, if not the world, to believe that they deserved to have had luck on their side on that occasion and not on the side they eventually lost to.
Loss brings out emotions in variety in you. In victory, there is only happiness.
The world doesn’t go around because of chance, but because of the merit of physics.
A quizzer doesn’t win because of chance but because of his perseverance to know more.
Following is a poem I
wrote after having lost a quiz by 5 points in the final round after having lead
the quiz for most of the time.
“Evenings and Beddings
Strangest of bed-fellows we make.
Adding to it, by the second.
We have our share of rows
and arguments,
and no prizes for guessing,
who's stand stands.

Maybe I took her for granted,
or maybe didn't
ride her that well.
My lady, My luck
promised her evening to me.
With no love lost,
She beds someone else tonight.”
