Omkar & Abhinav win Bhubaneswar Campus edition of TATA Crucible 2015, Can they win the Internationals again?

#TATACrucibleQuiz #CampusEdition2015 #Bhubaneswar

So let me start with a Question:-

Question arise can the defending Bhubaneswar champion & the defending international champion win it second time in a row as the International champion?
Probability is the highest,
Congrats to Omkar Amrutanshu &Abhinav Dhar
So let's have a look at the following two pics...
The first pic is after winning the Bhubaneswar round in 2014 & the second one after missing it narrowly as the Champions of nationals but shocking everyone & went on to be the International Champion with the grace of Madiba's shirt as an answer.

Now look at the consistency of the Virat Kohli of Odisha Quizzing circle Omkar Amrutanshu, he with his partner the classy master Quizzard Abhinav Dhar winning it smoothly & claiming their stake for the national finals & International finals yet again.

6 questions before the battle ended in Bhubaneswar Crucible,
The regular Odisha Quiz Association quizzards were fighting among themselves on stage.
Omkar & Abinav were leading with 165 points
Dr.Rashmi ranjan Swain & team at 110 and even Champ Quizzard Satwik & Team were at 110.
And yes Kalpit & team were following closely with 135 points.

Each one of them are sheer talent & are masters.

But yes, the classical VVS Laxman of Odisha Quizzing Circle as I say, fought back & went on to be the Runner up with his team member.

Then who is the winner?

None other than the formidable Quizzard duo of Omkar & Abhinav Dhar.

Now expectations are high...from here,Omkar & team will be expected to win the Eastern, National & the may be yet again the International.

Omkar & Abhinav can certainly do it and recreate history by winning it twice consecutively. However, the icing on the cake would be winning the Nationals as well this time. Isn't it?

Let's hope the ODISHA Juggernaut will continue it's journey and yes mean while don't forget how Odisha Quiz Association has/had transformed since it started adding value to each & every quizzards of Odisha since it's inception.

So #HailOQA

Oh Yes!!!QUIZ is My Valentine...Becoz....-Champ Quizzard Sampad Expresses himself...

#QUIZisMyValentine

Oh Yes!!!QUIZ is My Valentine...Becoz....

Yes, I know it is a bit too late for a Valentine Day’s post. But then, that is the kind of valentine that quiz has been for me. A valentine that is ready to forgive whatever mistakes I make… J

From meeting geniuses to “Hatasia” quizzers (:P), from quizzing with giants( literally :P) to
kukuras( needless to say who :P), from having podium finishes to not qualifying for finals, from serious quiz competitions and sessions to fun-filled after-quiz parties, quizmasters ranging from “ Good Afternoon, Boobaneswar!!!” to  a “self proclaimed Mr. Bean” , the list of my quizzing experiences may never end.

Phrases like “sala ki chu**** question be?”, “Abe kouthu padhilu be eta?”, “No Hints! No Hints!”, “Abe kichhi gote guess maride,” have become a part of life.

A big Thank You to OQA family for all these memories.

Just like to end on a funnier note ,mentioning some of the advantages that we quizzers enjoy on Valentine’s Day with quiz as our Valentine
  •  There is no fear of being punished by Bajrang Dal activists on the day.( :D)
  • We do not have to spend money in buying gifts for our valentine(miserly, yet profitable thought :P)
  • Even our parents support us to go out on Valentine’s Day and celebrate the occasion with our dearest Valentine ;)
  • So, my friends, as quizzers very commonly say “Keep Calm and Quiz On” :D

My Hate Story-A Rashmita Priyadarshini Story

Its almost 16 months before,I married him thinking that he must be like all other TV celebrities who just come to the set and read out the question and go away after collecting their pay checks however I realised that this guy's first love must have been News Channel,Indian Politics,Business Magazine,Books etc. & I am nothing in front all these sautans.

Every night he has to post a question on his site and thus will continue late & somewhere between 10pm-1am this process will continue & finally he will post some question & expect people will answer it & might also praise him for framing a good question.

I will ask, Are you getting any monetary benefits by putting so much effort, but he will say, arre nahin yaar..it helps the quizzing fraternity & I also learn yaar..plz...don't get me wrong...blah blah...

So all these days, my struggle for his Love, care & affection was nothing less than a battle & yes we had so many fights due to this but each time he ll try to explain the beauty of acquiring knowledge and gyan and what not...and I have to go off to sleep cribbing...

And then one day,he also realised it and felt sorry about my pain and came out with a solution.

What he use to do is very funny, he will finish the posting of the question & then come to the bed and start sharing a story why he framed the question, what is thought behind it,what a quizzer will think about it after reading the question, how he might be disguised by some information givcn in the question etc and all these in the form a story, I must say he is a glib talker & have the gift of the gab & the story telling art.(haan bhai Motivational Speaker,Communication trainer bhi hein naa...)

First few days he started framing questions of my interest from the world of films, entertainment, so that I will certainly be curious about the story, then business, mythology (he knowingly have questions on my Gannu Bhaiya to impress me,smart hein woh),then will laugh at me cause I don't know the basics of civics or my knowledge about history not great but then...over a period of time, it became an habit & gradually I use to remind him say, accha suno naa..."What is today's story, I mean as you said every Question has a story, give me today's story."I started demanding for it and realised the curiosity & inquisitivenes  is much more than anything....since last 20 odd days,I am gradually knowingly or unknowingly found a new VALENTINE & I love him & also this creature called QUIZ who I use to hate till date ....surprisingly I have generated an interest in watching news channels...reading newspaper & sometimes few pages from his books...

But Now I know why he loves it & why I am loving it ...

This Love with QUIZ started with a Hate Story & I am Loving it more, more & more...and learning few new things daily..what more a mere homo sapiens need in life, isn't it...?

Happy Valentine's Day Sweetu...

Here is the cake I made with utmost care & LOVE...

“Evenings and Beddings"-Champ Quizzard Jyoti Prakash Panda at his literary best

#QUIZisMyValentine

Following is a poem I wrote after having lost a quiz by 5 points in the final round after having lead the quiz for most of the time.

“Evenings and Beddings

Strangest of bed-fellows we make.
Adding to it,  by the second.
We have our share of rows
and arguments,
and no prizes for guessing,
who's stand stands.

Like every other couple,
We move about together,
however bereft we are.
She goes with me to balls,
and evenings,
only to join me back at night
or sometimes by the day.
She is of the sort, who
gets bored with your
abundant attention,
the lack of which draws
her to you,
and many other men.

Like all times,
I brought her along with me
tonight.
She surprisingly stood
longer than usual by my side.
Such moments, though rare,
prompt a smile on me,
as I boast about her company.
Gloat, rather.

Sometime ago she managed
to slip away from my hold,
noting which,
I set my eyes on a frenzied survey.
When my wandering gaze
locked on her, she was
this time, standing by,
yet another man.

Maybe I took her for granted,
or maybe didn't
ride her that well.
My lady, My luck
promised her evening to me.
With no love lost,
She beds someone else tonight.”

At one point I started to think that all my efforts towards quizzing activities were in vain, due to lack of results. Near misses were painful.

After that season, I hit a purple patch with my partner Saransh Mohapatra and went on a streak so hot, that other quizzers asked for us to be banned from Bhubaneswar quizzes.

I realized an important lesson through this. Quizzing is not just an activity, but a way of life.

Everyone has gone through that situation where, they would like themselves, if not the world, to believe that they deserved to have had luck on their side on that occasion and not on the side they eventually lost to.

Loss brings out emotions in variety in you. In victory, there is only happiness.
The world doesn’t go around because of chance, but because of the merit of physics.
A quizzer doesn’t win because of chance but because of his perseverance to know more.

#QuizIsMyValentine

The last week has been, as has been rightly put up in some forums, the Ultimate Chutiyapa Festival. Every ‘hatasia’ and ‘hystria’ has been living his dream these last few days. The strange part was even I tried to experiment a bit with this lunacy. The spirit of adventure you know. You see your peer hoolocking around like chimps from branches to branches, and suddenly your ass starts itching. So when everybody around me was plucking obnoxious roses from the hall garden on Rose Day, I decided I must also fetch one. And then that quizzing sense starts working, and I think about the durability, the reliability, about all those melodramatic prose of love and pain for the rose leaf and balderdash. So what do I do finally? I got a plastic Rose. See, it was a very efficient idea. Only that the girl never showed up to take it.

On Propose Day, I started with a fresh burst of energy. I read those usual lines from La Belle Dame Sans Mercy, and some Yeats. I had rehearsed my lines with facial expressions too. It was like there’s this tough quiz tomorrow, and I am revising my database. The evening came, the girl too. And I quoted Byron. The hapless woman looked petrified. I said it was a good poem I had read, and every time I saw her, I was being reminded of that. Then she quoted some line from Two States, and asked me to read ‘simple’, and I quote ‘heart-touching’ lines. I have made it a resolution to never propose anyone again.

On Chocolate Day, I gifted this girl a Bourneville, and she was so happy about it. She said she loved all Nestle chocolates. Ouch. That hurt. I reminded her, quite politely, that it was Cadbury we were talking of. There was this tale of John Cadbury I shared with her, about the Royal Warrant from the Queen, that sada hua Bourneville village wala funda and how Mondeleez had taken it over. The girl exclaimed that she had an assignment to complete. She went away, and has never picked my phone again.
On Teddy Day, I Whatsapped this girl, that classic image of the bear tied to the tree and Roosevelt refusing to shoot it down. The girl replied immediately that I had ruined the day for her, and that everytime she will see a teddy bear, she will be reminded of this gore.

On Promise day, I promised three girls the same thing. One of the girls was my sister too. I told them I will never go for a quiz which pays less. The ironical thing was that while I was repeating those lines on phone, I was sitting in the CV Raman wala Quiz with the first prize being in three digits. Never mind, promises are made to be broken.

Kiss Day is an absolute No-No for me, given all the exchange of bacteria that Sheldon so wonderfully points out during the course of Big Bang Theory. I also urge you to do the same.

During Hug Day, I was busy posting Hug De in Hindi. If you know what I mean.

And today, the most sacrosanct of them all, Valentine’s Day, and I am studying for the Gen Quiz tomorrow at Burla.

Basically we are too perfect to have a Valentine.

Dude, I am kidding!
I don’t have a life.

At least not by what we define life generally as. Our life is that three hours of high intensity mind games, and its reset before every new quiz. While people contemplate long drives with their girls, we contemplate booking early train tickets to college fests and attending the quiz. Some people buy movie tickets, and some pay the registration fees. Some cheat their girlfriend, and some Google up answers. There are those who hug in the dark, and those who strangulate answer sheets in their man-boobs. There are those women who wear great clothes, and those who wear a finer fabric of intellect.

And at the end of the day, there is always a way of Loving. But then, there is always another way of Living too.

The Omni Present Partner - A Somnath Pati Story

#QuizisMyValentine

Some say love starts with hostility. My love story had a similar start. Whenever the word "Quiz" was mentioned, I would get irked. I thought that Quizzing only involved scratching of head ! But once, when I was in Standard 7, my teacher told me to participate in a quiz. I reluctantly took part. At the end of the Quiz, I was not even selected for the final rounds, but this sparked the beginning of an eternal love story.
Gradually, I had a crush on "Quiz" ! I had grown a fondness for her. Love was in the air. "Quiz" attracted me with various gifts and prizes and I was impressed with her. I was slowly getting attracted towards her. She rewarded me with good positions such as First or Second. Finally, I mustered my courage and proposed her as I wanted to be with her for the rest of my life. She smiled and accepted me. We have been in a relationship since the past four years. "Quiz" has helped me to win 8 First positions in a row in the year 2014. She has been with me through my bad times in 2013 when I wasn't securing any positions. But she always held my hand and looked into my eyes. She used to say with a smile " Baby, the Future awaits you." She pulled me out of my adversity in 2013 and gave so much happiness to me in 2014 by awarding 12 times in total at different competitions. I hope that our love for each other works smooth in the year 2015 also. I love her with all my heart. Thank you "Quiz" for being there with me through my pleasant and bad times ! I love you ! Happy Valentines Day to my beloved Quiz !
Sincerely,
Your true love.

A Single Man's LOVE-Champ Quizzard Debashish Pradhan says

#quiz is my valentine#

From those cafe coffee day meets with santosh bhai and manas sir that soon transformed into lively quizzing sessions in sultry afternoons at saheed nagar for odisha quiz association.

From being roasted by Jeetabhai acerbic wit to those "endless khatis" with fellow quizzers.and not to forget the magnanimity of Soubhagya bhai,Kamal bhai or Abanis bhai.quizzng has always been my valentine.if not the first love but the most loyal one;)

some dialogues that has become more soothing and cliche than I love you over the years
(how to forget kamal bhai ":aji ka date re")

like "abe kete rahiba be prelims re" soon the pelims get over

or the "sala taku asuchi be" every time your friend start writing the answers

or the usual "sala mu na sunini be ara" every time you pity your ignorance or the QM vague question making skills.

cracking the theme in the first slide for we fellow quizzers has always and always been an orgasm.

from being said I should leave her(quizzing) for the time being  or the paramount efforts one has to give to sustain the sweet relationship or the occasional mood swings and tiredness quizzing has given us but everything and i say everything was worth of.you can never return from a quiz without learning a new thing.

for giving friends that you can trust upon ,an association that you can take pride for.
elders to look upto quizzing has given this "single" man lots of love and a huge family.
thank you
a fellow kulangara

The Kick By Quizzard Ritesh Ray

#QUIZisMyValentine

Entry:1:-The KICK.... Ritesh Ray the Quizzard shares his love for Quizzing:-

Though i won't call myself an avid quizzer,i have been to a lot of quizzes. I would recall my first quiz show chronicles with MBC TV hosted by Manas Sir,the first quiz I won at inter school level at class 5,the golden jubilee quiz hosted by Siddharth Basu Sir,the single handed win at Neurotica 2013 as few moments of my life that gave an enormous amount of Kick.(Woh kehte hein naa ke mujhe Quizzing se KICK milta hein...)

I still remember that KQA event where me,Adarsh(Talent) kumar Mohapatra,Akshat Praneet and Pranav Manie collaborated and were placed 3rd in the country. Guess the team name?...Bajaunga!!!.

The last quiz I attended was the quiz hosted by the Interact club of our school and the likes of Debajit sir and Ravi banjare sir donning the QM's hat made it special. There are a lot of better quizzers than me in my school and the competition was tough. At the last round we were 20points astray of the leaders i.e. Amogh and Aditya and the question was a series connect. We don't know how but the connect struck our minds,me and Somnath after a lot of discussion gave the answer although half unsure and won the quiz!.The last question victories are always special.

Quizzing is one of the things in my life...the only thing right now..besides staring at my crush, that gives me enough kick to keep me going.Quiz and Girl are not comparable in the context of valentine, one gives money while other uses :p . Quiz you are my Valentine this year and I love you from the core of my body.mind & soul and yes of course Brain :)
